How does Dioctyl work?

The active ingredient docusate sodium in Dioctyl capsules works in two ways. It reduces the surface tension of hard stools that accumulate in the intestine by causing water and fats to penetrate them and make the stools softer and easier to pass. How do I take Dioctyl?

Take the capsule whole with a glass of water and do not chew it.
